The Story

Predator Cues: The Brand That Rewrote the Laws of Physics (Then Made You Pay for It)

In 1994, in Jacksonville, Florida, two gentlemen named Alan McCarty and Steve Titus looked at the humble pool cue — a design essentially unchanged since your great-great-grandpappy was hustling steamboat captains — and said, "We can do better." Then they did. Repeatedly. To the point where the rest of the industry has spent thirty years playing catch-up like the slow kid in gym class.

Predator's opening act was the 314 shaft, the cue world's first true low-deflection shaft. By hollowing out the front end to shed weight where it matters most, they slashed cue ball deflection and gave players an aiming system that finally behaved itself. If you've ever heard a player mumble the words "low deflection" with religious reverence, congratulations — you've met a Predator convert. The Z shaft followed, going even thinner and straighter, because apparently "revolutionary" wasn't enough of a flex.

Then, in 2017, they dropped the REVO — the first carbon fiber composite shaft engineered specifically for billiards using genuine aerospace-grade materials. Within about five years, the majority of top-ranked pros had switched to carbon fiber. Every other brand scrambled to follow. Predator didn't just join the carbon fiber party; they built the venue, hired the band, and printed the tickets.

Here at Golden Break Billiards, we'll be honest: Predator cues are not the cheapest sticks on the wall. But you're not paying for a piece of maple with a pretty wrap — you're paying for the single most influential name in modern cue technology, the brand tournament players trust when there's actual money on the felt.

Choose Predator, because "close enough" is for horseshoes and hand grenades. In pool, you want the cue that treats deflection like a personal enemy — and has the trophy case to prove it won.
